2025 safety ratings for 54 bicycle helmets

Helmet STAR has released new ratings for 54 helmets, with prices ranging from $25 to $499. The latest round of testing brings the total number tested to 115 models, across five key categories: mountain bike, road, general use, wheeled recreational device, and children’s helmets.

Among adult helmets, the Bell Falcon XR MIPS achieved the highest score of (5 stars). In the child helmet category, the Kmart white unicorn helmet, priced at $30, received the top rating. The children’s helmet with the best overall score this year is the Fox Rampage Youth MIPS, which retails at $290.

The testing regime has been extended to rate both open-face and full-face mountain bike helmets with the $275 POC Tectal Race MIPS helmet awarded 5 stars in the open-face category and the $350 Met Parachute full-face helmet achieving 4 stars.

Another awarded 5 stars was the $300 POC Ventral Air MIPS in the general-purpose category.
